Mahogany Agro-Forestry
- India is an agricultural country.
- The method of obtaining integrated production by planting trees and seasonal crops is called Agro-Forestry.
- The goal of the organization is to produce good wood as the type of land and climate are favorable.
- The fertility of the land increases by increasing organic carbon.
- Adaptation of birds, butterflies and bees to their natural habitat and conservation of biodiversity.
- Use of seeds in medicine for cancer, tuberculosis, malaria, anemia, diabetes and many other diseases Mahogany red wood is used in furniture, house-building construction and as it is waterproof, it is used for flooring and shipbuilding, as well as in musical instruments, plywood, wooden panels, etc. Mahogany tree plantation helps in improving rainfall and preventing global warming. Mahogany tree plantation planning should be fertile land with good drainage. 444 plants should be planted for one acre of land. Planting distance should be 10 x 10 feet or 8 x 12 feet. The length, width and depth of the pit should be 1.5 x 1.5 x 1.5 feet. It is necessary to consult an agricultural consultant while intercropping. Intercropping should be done at a suitable distance from mahogany trees. Seasonal intercropping should be done for 3 to 5 years. The height of mahogany trees is at least 40 to 50 feet. It takes at least 15 years for a tree to mature. Carbon Credits Carbon Credits are used to encourage forestry. According to the Kyoto Protocol (1997), financial incentives are provided through the carbon credit system to reduce carbon emissions. Trees absorb carbon dioxide (CO2) and convert it into carbon-like solids. Opportunities in the timber industry in India India's demand for timber in 2020 was 57 million cubic meters, while it will be 98 million cubic meters in 2030. Providing industry and employment in rural areas through exportable timber production. Timber is required for various industries including building timber, construction sector, paper manufacturing, plywood, panels, furniture, handicrafts. Given the increasing demand for timber day by day, to meet the above need Agriculture and forestry are playing an important role.
